Running a business of my own is the best decision I ever made.  No, I’m not bragging, I’m being 100% honest with you.  Were there absolutely terrifying times in the beginning? SURE.  Looking back were there times where I highly doubted myself? ABSOLUTELY. Did I start before I was ready? Yup.  But i’m sitting here, five years of blogs, posts, and clients later telling you that if you’ve ever thought about building your own business now is your time.  Let’s talk about Why You Should Start A Business Before You’re Ready.

Let me share a smidge of my story for a second. When I decided to start my own business, not associated with any of the MLM/Network marketing companies i’d been with in the past, I was terrified.  I had a six month old and my husband worked seventy plus hours a week over an hour away from our house. We had just moved to a new city for my husband’s promotion and I knew no one.  The closest family I had was over a ten hour drive away, so when I say I had zero help I mean NADA. What I did have when I started was a drive to help others change their lives.

Why I started

When I realized I no longer wanted to be a part of the networking marketing company I’d been with for almost six years I made a big decision.  I had residual income coming in, I was well known for what I did, people shared my name and others signed up.  But I no longer wanted to box in a mom’s ability to only run one particular business; a health and fitness business.  I knew deep down that, as a mom, I could do anything with direction and work.  That being said I wanted other moms to feel empowered to do the same thing.  I wanted other moms to feel as though their ideas for a business of their own were possible.

When I started I had zero help, I had no income coming in anymore, my husband was always gone, and I survived on coffee.  So let’s talk about Why You Should Start A Business Before You’re Ready too!

1. You Won’t Ever Succeed If You Don’t Try

Seriously, until you actually put one foot in front of the other and TRY something new, how do you know if it will work or not?  You don’t.  The only way to succeed at anything is to give it a try. That’s exactly why you should give yourself the time to try.  Take that idea you have for your business and give it all you’ve got!

2. Joy Rather Than Fear

When you start you’re going to feel like you’re filled with some anxiety (ok, maybe a lot of anxiety). What you’re ACTUALLY feeling is uncontrolled excitement.  You’re mind is racing a million miles a minute. There are thoughts you may have never had before floating all around. You are going to have a laundry list of tasks you “need” to get done.  It all seems a bit overwhelming but really it’s the most exciting time in your business.  You are starting fresh, you are putting one foot in front of the other, you are pushing aside the fears and chasing your joy. At the end of the day you are going to be one step closer to running a successful business. That’s a step closer than where you were yesterday. Don’t let the “anxiety” feeling mask the insane joy that comes with a new venture.

3.  Done Is Better Than Perfect

Look, I’m the QUEEN of wanting things to look right, be perfect, sound as if they were written with a gold pen. But the thing is if you wait until you have things perfect you’ll never start.  One of my very first live training sessions I did from inside of a car, in the garage, at my moms house. Why?  Because I’d made a commitment to myself and to my group, #MommiesOnAMission, that I would show up and teach.  But we had an unexpected family emergency come up, I hopped on a plane and flew to my parents home to help out.  I wasn’t able to do my training in the comfort of my home, instead I was crammed into my brother’s small car inside my mom’s dimly lit garage.  <- It became my favorite training ever.  It was far from perfect but it was EPIC!

4. You’ll Gain Momentum Faster

When you actually get started, and turn your emotion into energy, your energy into action, and your action into something meaningful, momentum steps in and helps kick you off with a bang!

There is seriously no better time to start like RIGHT NOW!  These are my favorite reasons Why You Should Start A Business Before You’re Ready. Put your excuses all out on the table and start checking them off one by one.
